I confess I barely know it’s Saint Patrick’s Day today — I have not been near Fifth Avenue for very many hours. Guinness is just another company the U.S. could soon take over, as far as I’m concerned. But I did hear that best-selling trio of singing Irish priests (The Priests) at Saint Malachy’s over on Broadway here in New York City (literally — across from the new Jane Fonda play). The concert, hosted by Raymond Arroyo, will air tonight at 9 P.M. EST on EWTN. I enjoyed the hour at a beautiful church of cultural import with three humble servants who don’t seem to have let fame confuse their priorities. For tonight, anyway, they’re a different-kind-of-green-than-we’re-used-to-in-primetime American Idol alternative.
