End-of-Life Oddities

Derb’s post about the obit reminds me of possibly the weirdest book I’ve ever read. Weirdest because I would have never expected it from the author (not quite Nordlinger and I switching music-review assignments, but maybe close). David Pryce-Jones’s You Can’t Be Too Careful: Cautionary Tales for the Impetuous,

the Curious and the Blithely Obvious. It’s about bizarre deaths. It’s got an exploding beer keg, killer beach umbrella…I read it early on in David’s regular writing for NR and was glad I did–or would have missed a whole ‘nother side of the Renaissance Man, who’s got a wonderful attitude toward life.
