Engage Iran?

Dialogue with Iran and Syria have become the new mantra in Washington.  Both ideas are decidedly unrealistic.  On the former, no one will benefit and, on the latter, the only good will come to former ambassadors to Damascus who can translate their contacts into consultancies.  It’s important to remember Tehran’s trackrecord.  And, it’s also important to recognize the trackrecord of Europe’s engagement.
