Hi Jonah,
One thing I wish one of you guys had hit on (peter came closest to it actually), is that patriotism is an inherently conservative impulse. Not that only conservatives are patriotic, but conservatism, at it’s core, is the defense of values and institutions that have proven valuable in the past. That is impulse is what leads conservatives to rally around the flag.
