The Extraordinary Sarah Palin

Today I heard a charge somewhat new to me: that conservatives who like and admire Palin — and that includes me — celebrate her “ordinariness.” We like her because she’s “ordinary.” Well, let me go on record as saying I don’t think she’s ordinary at all. She has a boatload of political talent — phenomenal political talent. She’s a natural, as so few are. She wanted to be mayor of her town, and won. She wanted to be governor of her state, and won — knocking off an incumbent of her own party. She’s in a very elite group — a group of only 50 (governors). And now she’s a vice-presidential nominee. She seems to be relishing the role. No, I wouldn’t say she was ordinary, at all. If she’s ordinary — well, I’m sub-ordinary . . .
