Re: What Family Separations Teach Us about Central American Migration

Reihan mentions this very distressing New York Times piece on a Guatemalan mother who was deported without her son. I’ve adopted a posture of radical doubt about immigration horror stories given how hysterical and misleading much of the coverage is, but this one seems solid. This is not how the policy is supposed to work, and my understanding is the administration is trying to run down how it happened. It’s pretty clear that the system is getting overwhelmed.
