Our old friend John Podhoretz offers an uproarious and touching tribute to Lucianne Goldberg, who passed away yesterday in the loving embrace of her son Jonah, his wife, Jessica, and their daughter, Lucy. J-Pod, who knew Lucianne a lot longer than I did, put it better than I ever could. She was a live wire, always good for a laugh, even in the last few years when her health was failing her. She was, of course, known to the world for her bit part in exposing (for lack of a better word) Bill Clinton’s tryst with Monica Lewinsky. (And as J-Pod recounts, even Clinton saw her charms and was very gracious to her in a chance meeting years later.) To me, she was mostly just my pal Jonah’s mom, who always warmed a room when she was around the Goldberg residence in D.C. I will greatly miss her, and am privileged to have known her. She and Sid Goldberg raised a tremendous son in our friend Jonah, and our prayers are with him, Jess, and Lucy.
