Here’s my column on our interview with President Bush. I couldn’t get into it, but one point I would add is that even if Obama doesn’t want to have a war presidency, it’s very likely his first term will be shaped by how he responds to some unforeseen foreign crisis. (I’d say the other threat to his first term, forecasting from this early juncture, would be a double-dip to the recession coupled with inflation, for which he’d probably take the blame politically).
