Fat Poets

Been getting a lot of fat poets from readers after airing the topic in last month’s diary. I’ve been told of the following, though some strike me as portly, stout, tubby, abdominous, pudgy, paunchy, pyknic, zaftig, buxom, fleshy, or well-upholstered, rather than fat. Whatever:

W.H. Auden in later life, according to himself

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Wallace Stevens

Dylan Thomas

Allen Ginsberg

Gertrude Stein

Ted Berrigan

John Berryman

Adrian Henri

My favorite is this guy from a Russian reader. Look at the name!
