Feds Alert for Ebola at Africa Summit in D.C.

Federal officials have taken precautions to prevent the possibility of an Ebola outbreak during the Africa Summit in Washington, D.C., this week.

“There are some individuals from these countries where this outbreak has occurred who are participating in the summit,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest acknowledged to reporters.

But, he also explained, the Secret Service and other personnel have been trained to identify Ebola, which is not contagious if the symptoms are not visible.

“If an individual is starting to exhibit these symptoms that that individual can be quarantined,” Earnest said, adding that “even those health-care professions will be safe as well” if they are careful in the event they have to evaluate and treat an Ebola patient.
