Feds Won’t Sue to Stop Recreational Marijuana Use

The federal government announced on Thursday that it will not sue to stop Colorado and Washington from legalizing recreational marijuana use within their states. Colorado and Washington both voted to do so in the fall of 2012, and President Obama stated last December that “it would not make sense for us to see a top priority as going after recreational [marijuana] users in states that have determined that it’s legal.”

Earlier this month, National Review’s Betsy Woodruff reported from Washington state’s Hempfest, where there was a range of reactions to the state’s new laws.
