The Corner

Fenway

As a Yankees fan since the time I could form semi-coherent sentences, I hate the Red Sox’ guts. But I’ll be damned if I don’t respect them.

Fenway is a ridiculous little bandbox of a stadium, seemingly designed by a colorblind dyslexic with a twisted sense of humor. It is also one of the last cathedrals of baseball.  A holy place that connects America to our collective past in a way that few other places can ever hope to. It deserves the veneration it today received on its 100th anniversary.

The videos gathered at MLB.com are rather moving. The slideshow history on our homepage–designed by NRniks with much more affection for the Bo-Sox than your author–is worth a look as well.
