By what sense of logic are the liberals now suggesting that fighting a war on terror has only brought more terrorism? That the solution is, as Nancy Pelosi suggested on CBS, to overthrow the Taliban and say “back to normalcy.” How would this line of logic work in the Clinton years? Combatting smoking only leads to more smoking? Combatting Microsoft only leads to more monopolistic behavior? Combatting poverty only leads to more poverty? Okay, sometimes that formulation of unintended consequences does work out. But liberals have always focused on the pose, on the good intentions, and almost never on the results. So the President clearly has the good intentions and the resolve here on fighting terror. What are they left with? Fundraisers for the ACLU and Lynne Stewart?
