Final Kansas Poll: Orman Up Two Points on Roberts

Republican incumbents in Kansas will face tight races on Election Day, according to SurveyUSA’s last poll before Tuesday.

The survey finds that Senator Pat Roberts was unable to close the gap to independent candidate Greg Orman, trailing by two points with 42 percent to his 44 percent. The poll has a four percent margin of error.

Ten percent of respondents said they remain undecided with the election less than a week away.

Orman has consistently led since then-Democratic nominee Chad Taylor withdrew from the race last month, causing Taylor’s supporters to rally behind Orman. He at one point led Roberts by as many as 10 points, but the race has tightened since.

In the gubernatorial race, Governor Sam Brownback is trailing Democrat Paul Davis. With the same margin of error, Davis wins 46 percent of the vote to Brownback’s 43 percent. Seven percent are undecided.

Similar to the Senate race, polls have mainly given the edge to Davis, although Brownback has closed a one-time double-digit gap, and even taken the lead in some cases.

Either way, Sunflower State voters can expect a couple of nail-biters on Tuesday.
