Looking at the last-minute Senate polls, the following GOP candidates appear to have had a good weekend: Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Richard Burr of North Carolina, and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma. John Thune is keeping things interesting in South Dakota. Mel Martinez has not been able to pull away in Florida; he may be in for a late night. Pete Coors of Colorado enteres today as an underdog and probably more of one than he’s comfortable being. Jim DeMint in South Carolina continues to look solid. Tim Michels of Wisconsin possibly has started to click with voters but definitely is out of time. Why hasn’t there been more public polling in Kentucky? Probably because few people–even Democrats–really believe Jim Bunning will lose there. And in Illinois, the big question for Republicans is whether Alan Keyes will break 25 percent, or even 20 percent.
