VENKAYYA TO HOST AVIAN INFLUENZA CONFERENCE CALL WITH BLOGGERS
WASHINGTON, June 20, 2006 – Secretary of Health & Human Services, Mike
Leavitt, Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns, and Special Assistant to
the President for Biodefense at the White House Homeland Security
Council, Dr. Rajeev Venkayya, will discuss preparations for avian
influenza in the U.S. Secretary Leavitt will discuss public health
preparedness; Secretary Johanns will discuss domestic bird monitoring
systems; and Dr. Venkayya will discuss the President’s policy
initiatives. There will be a question and answer session following
remarks from host participants.
