In case you have a life, had better things to do, and haven’t been following the public pensions/municipal meltdown/Fiscal Armageddon news over the Christmas break, a depression-inducing Monday roundup.

How about this for a national New Year’s resolution: We must not go another $1 trillion into debt. I know, that’s like the 500-pound guy vowing to lose five pounds — but if the alternative is gaining a hundred . . .
