It was an oddly framed question: It’s not as though McCain ever took the view that South Carolina should ever have been forbidden by some higher power to fly the flag over the state capitol. McCain sort of bumbled his way through it but reached a strong close, saying we all had to move past the flag controversy–which has got to be a popular position among SC GOPers.
