Democratic congressman Alan Grayson of Florida’s ninth district is divorcing his wife of 24 years, claiming she was married to another man when they were wed.
Grayson filed divorce papers last week, claiming his wife Lolita had another husband and secretly divorced him in 1994, after her marriage to Grayson.
“During the course of their courtship between Mr. Grayson and Ms. Grayson, Ms. Grayson knew that she was legally married to another man and was not divorced or widowed,” the Democratic congressman said in papers filed at the Orange County Courthouse in Orlando.
The document said Lolita Grayson concealed that she wasn’t divorced and told Representative Grayson that she was single to convince him to marry her.
