THE FMA VOTE

Republicans have picked up four Senate seats since the last vote on considering the FMA. One of them replaced Zell Miller. So you might have expected the pro-FMA vote to rise by 3. In fact, it rose by about 2. In 2004, the FMA got 48 votes. This time it got 49–you can make it 50 if you assume Hagel would have voted pro. Arlen Specter and Judd Gregg, who voted for it last time, voted against it this time.
