The Hartford Courant reports that Bridgeport has counted its votes — finally — and found enough to put Democrat Dan Malloy over the top:
The Bridgeport vote went for Malloy, with 17,800 votes to Republican Tom Foley’s 4,075 votes. That margin of 13,725 appears to be enough to overcome the 8,409-vote lead that Foley held before the Bridgeport votes were counted. If the numbers hold up, Malloy will have won the race by a margin of 5,316.
But in a press conference this morning, Foley refused to concede. “Connecticut deserves to know accurately what the result was,” he told reporters. Reminding them that Bridgeport’s results still need certification, he concluded, “It may well take a recount to get that certainty.”
In other words, he may sue to get a recount if one is not required by state law.
