Food Fight

At last! Someone agrees with me:

[E]ven on the specific policy point – ”surely – if public schools are going to be feeding our children, then minimal federal health guidelines are desirable ” — the answer is a resounding, “no . . . and don’t call me Shirley.”  Even if public schools are feeding our children, basic principles of federalism would hold that the federal government should butt out.  The local school board determines (or hires the people who determine) what their kids are served.  Do the feds care more about their children’s health than they do?  What does the federal government add here, except, as you note, big egos?
