Did you see this Washington Post article? Hundreds of bad guys caught in the Middle East since 9/11 have criminal arrest records in the US. One has to assume that many, many other detainees have been here without being arrested (and thus have no such records). It’s a major mystery why we haven’t been smacked again here, since it’s impossible to believe any of these creeps were under government observation. One also has to assume that there are plenty of would-be jihadis in this country right now — and we will encounter them in the future on some foreign battlefield, or they will commit terrorist acts here. Worse yet, these people will be put on a path to citizenship via some sort of shameful amnesty deal no matter who wins in November.
There really is no excuse not to treat border control as a national security issue, and this has been obvious for a long time (since the first WTC attack at the latest). Yet neither Clinton nor Bush took border control seriously, and neither does McCain or Obama.
[Me] I agree on all points. We pay a high price for the dewy-eyed immigration romanticism of our elites, and there are undoubtedly more payments coming due.
“There was the suspected militant fleeing Somalia who had been arrested on a drug charge in New Jersey …” [From the WaPo story]
[Me again] Why on earth would any person from Somalia be granted admittance to this country for any reason? I can’t even see the need for diplomatic representation — the place is just a chaotic slum. We are the fools of the world.
