Fordham University recently made a highly controversial decision. It denied Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) the right to form a club on campus.
That, naturally, set off debate all over the country. Did Fordham do the right thing or the wrong thing?
On Minding the Campus, Ursinus College professor Jonathan Marks argued that Fordham was wrong. Much as he disagrees with everything SJP stands for, he maintains that Fordham should not have denied the request to allow a SJP club on campus.
But Jay Schalin of the Martin Center counters in this article that Fordham made the right call in excluding an “antisocial” group from campus.
