Fort Hood Shooter Unanimously Found Guilty on All Counts

Army psychiatrist Major Nidal Hasan, the man behind the 2009 shooting spree at Fort Hood that left 14 dead and 31 injured, was convicted on all counts today, of premeditated murder and attempted murder, by a unanimous vote of the 13-member panel of military officers.

The trial now goes to the sentencing phase, which will begin next Monday at 9 a.m. The unanimous verdict means that Hasan could face the death penalty, in addition or life imprisonment with or without the possibility of parole.

Hasan represented himself in the trial and seemed to hope for the harshest penalty possible, at one point telling the jury that the evidence would show he was the shooter.
