Take this you damn hippies, from a reader:

For a rag with a tradition  of precision in the use of the English language, I’m surprised that NR is even considering  the word ‘fortnightly’.  ‘Fortnightly’ would mean every two weeks.  NR is published 24 times a year, right?  Last time I checked, there were 52 weeks a year.   For NR to be a fortnightly publication, you’d need to publish 26 issues a year.

I believe the word you are looking for is ‘semimonthly’—published twice a month.  

Don’t be embarrassed.   I always confuse similar words myself.  For instance, I always confuse ‘revanchism’ with ‘irridentism’—but then again, who doesn’t?
