FOX on Annenberg

Over at FOXnews.com, Maxim Lott has an interesting article on some of the groups funded by Barack Obama when he was on the boards of the Woods Fund and the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. In “Wright 101,” I described Obama’s funding of extremist Afrocentrists who share Jeremiah Wright’s worldview. Lott followed up on this by going to the current head of the group in question for comment. Yvonne Williams-Kinnison replied, “I don’t want to put more fuel on the fire. You can call us back after the election….I don’t want to compromise the position.” Let’s just say this particular variant of “no comment” is not exactly a confidence builder.

I’d add that I have by no means finished detailing all the troubling aspects of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC). There is more to say about the education projects of Bill Ayers and Michael Klonsky, about CAC funding of ACORN, about Obama’s funding of a controversial effort by his alma mater, the Developing Communities Project, to organize parents. And this is only a partial list of the problems. With the financial crisis, I turned my attention to ACORN, the Community Reinvestment Act, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. As a consequence, it’s been impossible to lay out all the troubling aspects of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge prior to the election. But Lott’s piece confirms that there is much to be concerned about.
