The idea of running a pro-life Catholic Republican for president (or vice-president) makes a great deal of sense, but the ideal candidate would, I think, be someone who has experience in winning Catholic votes. Politicians from Oklahoma (or Kansas) don’t get that experience. (Ideally, the candidate wouldn’t try to correct bishops about Catholic teaching on the death penalty, either.)
