Gallup: Growing Super-Majority of Americans Agree with Conservatives about Transgender Athletes
In May 2021, Gallup asked Americans: “Do you think transgender athletes should be able to play on sports teams that match their current gender identity or should only be allowed to play on sports teams that match their birth gender?”
Sixty-two percent of Americans said athletes should only be allowed to play on teams that match their “birth gender,” while 34 percent said they should be able to play on teams that match their gender identity.
While Americans agreed with the conservative view by a 28-point margin in May 2021, they now side with that view by a 43-point margin, according to a May 2023 Gallup poll:
NEW GALLUP POLL: “A larger majority of Americans now (69%) than in 2021 (62%) say transgender athletes should only be allowed to compete on sports teams that conform with their birth gender.”

Lia Thomas probably deserves a decent amount of credit for this shift.
