Hey, does anybody know if there’s a good college football game being played tomorrow?
I jest, of course. One of the finest aspects of my four years at the University of Michigan is that we beat Ohio State four times: 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991. The combined score of those games was 109-65. Not that I counted.
You must understand, I grew up with a father who once owned a sweatshirt that read: “O How I Hate Ohio State.” I could sing “Hail to the Victors” around the time I learned to walk. A bumper sticker seen in the Miller household: “Directions to Columbus — South until you smell it, east until you step in it.” I applied to only one college.
So tomorrow’s game holds some interest for me.
Meantime, a treat for both Michigan and OSU fans: a very funny exchange on Slate between Jonathan Chait (who I knew in Ann Arbor) and Aaron Marshall, who I guess is from Ohio or something.
Final thought for fellow Wolverines: Let’s win it for Bo.
