My son got a computer game for Christmas, “Star Wars Battlefront II.”
He adores it, and spends his ration of computer time playing it.
Some of his coevals have it too, and they all tell him it’s even more
fun if you join in games on the internet. I gave permission, and we
tried to join one of the ongoing multiplayer games.
The machine took AGES (1-2 minutes) to download th start screen.
After it eventually did, we got “Loading….” for a minute or so.
Then: “Connection to host lost.” We fiddled with connection
parameters, but this happened every time.
Trawling the games sites on the internet, all we could discover was
that this can happen when your machine doesn’t have enough resources.
This, however, does not compute. Danny’s machine (it’s a
DellDimension 4700 PC) is high-end, and only a few months old. His
