Gas Prices and Energy Production

I was surprised to see such a pointed question to the president on gasoline prices — and it was even more surprising that Romney never went back to the question and the energy secretary’s comments (and that it took so long to note that gas prices have gone up). As for the factual claims: Romney was correct and President Obama, no matter how much he claimed otherwise, was flat wrong. Natural-gas production on federal lands is down (in 2011 it was lower than any point since 2003), offshore oil production is down, and the administration closed off most new oil shale production on federal land.
