JPod – There’s another reason gays should be miffed about Trek. They pretty much don’t exist. Some alien races have, uh, different sexual orientations but in the show everyone is all man or all woman, as the saying goes. Yes, yes I know there’s a lot of gay fantasy stuff in the Trekkie/Trekker world, but as far as I can recall, there were no openly gay humans in any of the show (I haven’t seen all of the Entreprises so maybe I’m missing something). What happened to them? Does the Federation have a don’t ask don’t tell policy? The assumptions behind this sexual lacuna on the Entrerpise should be able to fuel a Brown University English department seminar for years.

Please reconsider Wesley Crusher. He seemed to have a genetic marker that allowed him phase in and out and he did go off with that male “traveler” to find himself. He was always sensitive.
Hmm…I hadn’t thought of that. He did seem to be heading off to the brokeback quadrant by the end of the series, didn’t he?
