The Generals are “Shocked”

Max Boot has written a long, informative, thoughtful report from Iraq for The Weekly Standard. Towards the end, I came across this:

American generals say they have been “shocked” to discover the level of

Iranian influence in Iraq. The Iranians are supporting not only the Mahdi

Army, Badr Brigades, and other Shiite militias, but also, the generals

believe, al Qaeda–the very group killing Shiites en masse.

Put this together with Andy McCarthy’s earlier post, in which Hezbollah tells us what “Iranian support” really means. It means that Tehran has to approve their every action. Even when they get their one square of toilet paper before they head for the latrine.

Seriously, this means that the Iranians are running the al Qaeda operation in Iraq. Just as some of us have been saying for several years. Maybe the generals should read NRO more often?
