George Will on the Boss, Thirty Years Ago

Thirty years ago this month George Will wrote a column on Bruce Springsteen, a nice copy of which I found last night on — as Mrs. Clinton’s staff might say a decade later — Internet. Enjoy.

(Springsteen aficionados will freak out if I don’t mention that “Born in the U.S.A.” is anything but “a grand, cheerful affirmation.” And this column has been the subject of much debate in the Springsteen community — and played a small role in the 1984 presidential election. But all of that, to my mind, is less interesting than the on-its-face awesomeness of the column. So again, enjoy.)
