The Corner

Gerald Ford

I had a teacher in high school who told me the two luckiest people in the world were Gerald Ford and Ringo Starr.  Luck is in the eye of the beholder. But Ford was fortunate. A gifted athlete, a successful politician who, when presented with the challenge of a lifetime handled it with grace and determination, and the patriach of a prosperous and by all accounts happy and well-adjusted family. He died at the age of 93 when historical judgement alligned more favorably with his accomplishments. It was a full, productive and happy life. He got to see his grandchildren grow up. He should be honored and remembered, but it is no great tragedy when men are called home at the age of 93 after such a life.
