Getting It (Not Dirtily)

One of my favorite things to do is talk with my friend Mark Helprin (the novelist, foreign-affairs analyst, etc.). I did so in a podcast yesterday. Even when the topics are dreadful — Iran, the Bomb, the fate of the earth — the conversation is pleasant, and oddly comforting. Helprin is a man who “gets it,” to use an expression I have never liked, but sometimes resort to.
