Gibbs: There’ll Be ‘Pressure’ on WH to Be Honest About HealthCare.gov Problems

The White House needs to be more honest with both insurance companies and the American public about problems plaguing the HealthCare.gov website, says former Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs.

“The pressure now will be on the administration to be more forthcoming about what’s happening on the backend, and whether insurance companies are getting the information,” he said on Morning Joe on Monday. If enrollment information isn’t properly processed, Gibbs added, customers and insurance providers could continue to be left in the dark on whether or not someone has actually enrolled in a plan.

He also criticized the White House’s vague claim that HealthCare.gov will work for “a vast majority” of people visiting the site. “The notion that it works for ‘a vast majority of users’ obviously is, as many have pointed out, an arbitrary measure — we don’t know the exact number,” he said.
