Gingrich: ‘I’m Really Disappointed in John McCain,’ ‘I Don’t Know What’s Happened’

Newt Gingrich had stern words for John McCain about the senator’s criticism of Rand Paul’s filibuster over drone policy this week. “I’m really disappointed in John McCain, and I’m very saddened by it,” the former House speaker told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Friday. Gingrich found it surprising that McCain, who has taken on the GOP in the past, “was now lecturing the next generation because they have the guts to stand up” to the party.

“I would’ve thought John McCain would’ve applauded him. He would’ve said, ‘I may not agree with you in detail, but I’m proud of the fact that you’re standing up for your beliefs,’” he added. “I don’t know what’s happened to McCain.”

Gingrich went on to say that he personally agreed with Paul’s stance on drone strikes, and that it was necessary to pressure the Obama administration and Attorney General Holder for clarification.

It’s a lot like The ... Read More
