Derry, N.H. — As Tuesday’s primary nears, Newt Gingrich continues to blast Mitt Romney, casting him as a disconnected establishment figure. At a town-hall meeting tonight, he warned Republicans to avoid an uninspiring nominee.
“I don’t think winning is enough,” Gingrich said. “I think winning has to be purposeful and has to lead to decisive and fundamental change. To do that, you can’t have an isolated candidate.”
Gingrich suggested that Romney may be that candidate. “That is, probably, in some ways, the major disagreement between Governor Romney and me,” he said. “You have to be able to defeat Barack Obama, but you have to be able to defeat him with an agenda which the American people vote for, which gives you the moral authority and psychological impetus to actually do it.”
