The new Gallup poll shows Rudy Giuliani recovering, in part, from the fall he took in mid-March. At the same time, the poll shows John McCain’s slide resuming. The undeclared Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson are tied for third, and Mitt Romney is a solid fourth place — a full four points ahead of the other Thompson, Tommy.
Giuliani 38
McCain 16
Gingrich 10
Fred Thompson 10
Mitt Romney 6
Since January, Giuliani has gone from 31 to 40 to 44 to 31 to 38. In the same period, McCain has gone from 27 to 24 to 20 to 22 to 16. Gingrich has stayed around 10 percent the whole time, and Thompson’s first appearance was a week ago, at 12 percent. Since January, Romney’s support has gone from 7 to 5 to 8 to 3 to 6 percent.
