Globaloney vs. the Real World

So, our worst ex-president joins Desmond Tutu on a trip to Darfur. When Carter tries to make a detour, his Sudanese government minders tell him he can’t, so he erupts:

“We’re going to anyway!” Carter angrily retorted. “You don’t have the power to stop me.”

But of course, they did have the power to stop him, because guns trump sanctimonious hand-wringing every time. If people are really worried about the vulnerable women of Darfur, they ought to give each one of them an AK-47 and the training to use it. You’d be surprised how quickly the rapes stop.
