Picking up on your post from yesterday, Derb, I certainly agree that your sad scenario is a likely one, probably even the most likely one. It’s the “iron rails” part where we differ. Lot’s of things could happen in the next few years to change the political lay of the land. And the danger of a nuclear Iran is so great that, in a somewhat changed political context, I can imagine America taking action. Not the most likely scenario, perhaps, but not impossible either. Of course I realize that, in saying this, I effectively cede you the lead in our gloom-off. Just knowing I was able to take that lead for a time is gratifying…er, I mean…deepens my sadness.
