Instead in response to the insanely high current college costs — college tuition rates and fees have skyrocketed by 559 percent since 1985, according to a New York Times analysis — two Republican governors,Texas’ Rick Perry and Florida’s Rick Scott, are trying to buck the trend by urging colleges in their states to offer degrees for $10,000. Some of the colleges are cooperating and working to develop such programs.
