A supporter of George Allen comments by email on how the Wash Post views Virginia, Allen, and Webb:
(1) On the same day the Washington Post endorsed (natch) Jim Webb, they ran an article trashing the rest of Virginia. (RoVa = Rest of Virginia)
“In NoVa, a lab is the family dog. In RoVa, a lab is the
family meth business.”
(2) Meanwhile, look at what Jim Webb said in the Post:
“Towel-heads and rednecks — of which I am one. If you write that word,
please say that. I mean, I don’t use that pejoratively, I use it
defensively. Towel-heads and rednecks became the easy villains in so
many movies out there.”
Whatever Webb may be, he is not a “towel-head”. Is there ANY doubt that, had Allen said “towel-heads”, the Washington Post would talk about it every day? But it’s Jim Webb, so they think it’s charming.
