Sen. John Thune (R., S.D.) on the administration’s announcement:
“I welcome the president’s long overdue announcement that military commission proceedings to deal with captured terrorists will resume at Guantanamo Bay. Like most Americans, I am still waiting for this Administration to announce when the self-proclaimed mastermind of the September 11th attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, will be prosecuted in a military commission, rather than moved to New York to enjoy all the constitutional protections of the American civilian criminal justice system.”
