WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. single-family housing
starts rose to a fresh record high in November, as persistently
low mortgage rates fueled strong demand for housing, a
government report showed on Tuesday.
US current account gap narrows in Q3
WASHINGTON, Dec 16 (Reuters) – The U.S. current account
deficit narrowed more than expected in the third quarter, a
government report showed on Tuesday.
The gap in the current account, the broadest measure of the
nation’s trade with the rest of the world, shrank to $135.0
billion from an upwardly revised $139.4 billion in the second
quarter, the Commerce Department said.
US consumer prices post surprise fall in November
WASHINGTON, Dec 16 (Reuters) – U.S. consumer prices took an
unexpected tumble last month as the cost of energy, clothing,
furniture and lodging all fell, according to a government
report on Tuesday that showed underlying inflation running at a
nearly 38-year low.
