Senator Mike Crapo (R., Idaho) challenged Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius on the claim that insurance rates will go down under the Affordable Care Act. He also called for “a timeout” of the health-care law to address some of the issues with its implementation .

Sebelius rejected Crapo’s suggestion of pausing the law’s implementation and said that it was working effectively.

“Are you saying that in the individual market, insurance rates are going down?” Crapo asked quizzically.

Sebelius denied that rates had gone done, but countered that the rates have come in lower than originally projected when the law first passed.
