The next Republican debate is in Detroit. If the Republican candidates had any wit about them, they would make the most of the setting, perhaps with a walking tour through this pothole of a lost city that would illustrate a simple truth: Detroit is what Democrats do. If you want to follow welfare-statist and racial-identity politics to their inevitable conclusion, visit Detroit.
Chris Christie could do the same thing with Atlantic City, if he wanted to show where Trump-ism leads. But he doesn’t want to do that.
