GOP Spending Bill Fails, 44-56

As expected.

All Democrats and three Republicans vote no — Sens. Rand Paul (R., Ky.), Mike Lee (R., Utah), and Jim DeMint (R., S.C.). The three comprise the Tea Party Caucus in the Senate.

H.R. 1 is the House Republican spending bill to keep the government running through September 30. It would reduce federal spending by $61 billion over that time period.
